Well this is it, the big show, FLUKE! Me, Pranas, Wheeler and Greathouse were all rested from around cavorting last night (and no, Wheeler did not get laid). So we headed down to Tasty World an hour before they opened and we were met with an entire crowd! But I still managed to get ahead, and get inside first to get some prime table space for me and Pranas to share, We’d pretty much be one of the first tables you’ see after entering. So I was already excited, since last year I had a bad space all the way in the back.

It was great, I got to meet some fans of the Daily Odyssey, and I thank you for the praise, and purchasing my books! Shaman-Man 2 seemed to sell very well, since it’s my latest, and I put alot of man hours into it! Also I sold it for $2.50 if they bought it with the first Shaman-Man, so that helped sales a little.
I really got to talk with some great artists and close friends, but I was most proud to interview Patrick Dean, the founder of Fluke, which I hope ends up on SEQALAB sometime this week. Of course, I did start out the interview mistaking his friend Robert for him… and that was preeetty stupid!

The Wonder and Magesty of Fluke!
Well, I really can’t list all the people I met, since there were so many, and I’m sort of lazy, so let me skip to the coup de grace of all my trips to Athens: Bizzaro Wuxtry!!
Possibly THE most wonderful comic shop I’ve ever had the pleasure of visiting, the ambience, the sheer amount of selection and the exotic and rare comics that you’d have to search ebay and the world over just to find them, and at reasonable prices! Frankly, words can’t do it justice, you really have to be there and experience Bizzaro Wuxtry!

After the con, and subsequent dinner with Chris Schweiser (whom I’ve dubbed the nicest guy in comics) and his crew that he brought up from the SCAD Atlanta campus, all of whom showed some really promising artwork! Following that, we headed over to Joey Weiser‘s place for a small wrap up party…. which we really couldn’t stay long for, since it was past midnight, and we needed to ride home… but that is a tale for another time!
Overall, this day is one of the reasons I draw comics, this sense of community, the people, the sense of inspiration hanging heavy in the air. I walked away a with a few extra bucks, but I also came back with a sense of pride about my work, every Fluke seems to be better than the last, and if even if I don’t stick around Savannah, I wanna make the trip again, from no matter where I am at the time. It’s really that important to me.
