The Daily Odyssey: Escape to New York

Friday, January 2nd, 2009

Greetings fellow Adventure Lovers! Hope You’re All having a happy and prosperous New Year!

I’ll be flying back home to New York for the week, and my trusty iMAC has no choice but to sit this adventure out. Although, I will be able to bring Metal Gear MKII, my laptop, so I should be able to keep up with chronicle my latest metropolitan exploits without too much delay.

Playing Catch Up

Wednesday, January 14th, 2009

Apologies for the slow going with the update schedule, but I didn’t expect the job to call me in so much this week. I should have everything sorted out in the next few days.

Brightleaf on a Demon Hunt

Saturday, February 7th, 2009

I figured this would make a lovely blog post for all those who hadn’t seen this comic the day I posted it.

I originally wrote this story as an entry for SCAD’s Pantomime anthology, but I felt it had enough character to unfold into a graphic novel. Anywho, here’s the original comic from back in 2007, tell me what you think!

Don’t worry, I’m planning more for Brightleaf and Eyeball in the future! And hopefully in a longer format.

GUEST QUEST WEEK - May 3rd to May 11th

Sunday, May 3rd, 2009

Well, I was just going to let the website rot for a week, but my good friend Brad piped up and said I should get guests to cover me for the week. So, I twittered really quick to see if anyone was interested, and jesus, I was shocked! So, my hiatus is going to extend a little bit because so many people wanted to contribute.

Anyway, enjoy this calvcade of artist!

Moving to new Home Base

Thursday, May 14th, 2009

Welp, Over the next couple of days I’ll be in the process of moving, so comics will be slow to come out. You know, lugging an entire house isn’t exactly child’s play!

Anywho, there’s also a hidden danger: I will not have cable for the next two weeks, and concurrently, no internet! But fear not, I will find any Wi-Fi spot, come into friends houses at inopportune times and steal the internet itself to bring you the Daily Odyssey!… even though they might be days late at a time!

Stay true adventurers, I’ll be back to a normal schedule soon enough!

R.I.P. Jeremy “Sweetwater” Mullins

Monday, June 15th, 2009

Today we lost a real good man, I’m still in shock over his death, like it doesn’t even seem real. The tears are going to come and I’m not sure when they’ll stop. Sweetwater was a good man, a great friend and one fantastic professor.

Professor Jeremy "Sweetwater" Mullins, The Greatest Asshole I've Ever Known.

It’s really hard to put into words what he meant to me. I never had a class with him, but he would always make time to show me how to work with my website. Infact, there probably would be no Daily Odyssey if I hadn’t been fortunate enough to meet him.

It was an absolute blast and an honor to work on SEQALAB with him as well. Many a times I would bust my ass for that show, and Sweetwater would always be there to encourage me and show his respect. The man respected me, I couldn’t really know a higher honor. When you think about it, he respected everyone in SCAD’s Sequential Art department, he didn’t pull any punches, he was honest, if you needed to be put on blast, Sweetwater would hit you hard, and you’d know he was being fair when he did.

What really depressed me about his passing is that there was so much for him to do. He was a revolutionary, he had already brought SEQALAB to SCAD, which in itself broadcasted the word of the sequential department all across the world. He was even planning to group together a convention in Savannah, to really develop a comics scene, this man really cared about comics and spreading a message.

It’s not fair to have him taken from us so soon, and I don’t think any SEQAhomie will rest easy tonight. I know personally that I’ve never experienced a death so close to me before, and I’m not even sure how to react just yet. So many loose ends to tie up, some many worries I’m not ready to face. I feel so powerless.

I apologize for the rambling nature of this post, but I just needed to get it out there. I think I’ll end this with a comic drawn by Sweetwater himself, immortalizing one of my greatest (or worst) memories of him.

I’ll miss you, Jeremy.

Power to the Pod.

Help Brett Get to A Con: Commission Time!

Friday, July 10th, 2009

Howdy loyal adventurers! Next week I’ll be heading up to Baltimore, Maryland to visit Otakon, the biggest Anime Convention on the east coast, and I’m going to be tabling there. The only problem is that I need money to make prints! Also to eat and survive. So I’m in need a of a little bit of cash within the next week.

So here’s the skinny! If you want to help the Odyssey get to Otakon, simply commission me for an ink or sketch drawing! It’s 10$ for a Sketch and 20$ for Inks, price may vary on how many characters or detail you need in it, but that’s the basics.

Also, I’m looking for requests of what you’d like to see sold as prints when I’m at Otakon, because I might start selling the popular strips online if they get enough love.

So, drop me a line at Btmstudios@gmail.com for more information if you’re interested!
