There’s alot of stray cats wandering around the Apartment Complex, and it always vexes we to see some without tails, I mean, they couldn’t have been bitten off could they?
And it’s not like it’s some sort of weird Disney flick set in old timey england where the cats are being chased down by a disgruntled butcher, mad that they ran off with some sausage links… WHOS CUTTIN’ THE TAILS DAMMIT?!!
I brought back a kitten from South Korea and his tail was all mangled and shaped like a “Z”. I always just figured the guy who sold the cat to me was just some horrible jerk who did a hack-job trying to cut the poor thing’s tail off. However, the vet said that it was most likely a genetic defect and the cat was probably born that way.

Yeah, some cats genetically don’t have tails. They’re called Manx cats.
Also, I’ve heard of cats getting hit by cars losing their tails. Maybe it got ran over one time?

Cats sometimes crawl up in the engine blocks of cars. Those that are not decapitated by the fan often lose their tails. There is nothing worse than the sound of an engine turning over followed by an piercing, “MeeeooowwwW!”
Oddly enough we’ve noticed a few tailless cats recently… my wife shook her head citing it was probably some mean ultra-violent 12 year old boys with nothing better to do. Again not giving the radiator fan its due. Question, would you be brave enough to try and lop of a cat’s tail? I mean, when my cats are in a foul mood I won’t even walk past the couch if they are on it. I’ll just avoid that room all together. Yes I fear my cats… what of it?
They are probably some sort of bobtail breed (of which there are several). There’s quite a large population of them in Savannah; we have a couple in our neighborhood. Oddly enough, the bobtail gene is dominant, but fatal if the recessive tailed gene is not also present.
From the way you drew that cat, it looks like a Manx. They are generally sturdy cats and their rear ends sometimes rise like the cat you drew.
I used to have one. She wasn’t a full breed by any means, but she was born with a bobtail. Sort of like a bunny.
